Ready to test your skills against other anglers?  We hold occasional fishing tournaments on our local ponds. Longest Bluegill and longest Bass will take home something a little extra as winners in our derby!

What Do Our Classes Look Like? Get the Details.

This is the general schedule we will try to follow throughout all of our classes, from Week 1 through Week 4. Each class will be about 90 minutes, with half of the class time will be spent on teaching and the other half will be spent fishing. Have any additional questions? Check out our FAQs.

Week 1
  • Learn about the different types of rods, reels, & fishing line.
  • Learn how to bait a hook with a worm.
  • Fishing for blue gil with hook and bobber!
Week 2
  • Learn about different types of lures and other tackle.
  • Learn how to tie the uni knot (one of the most common fishing knots).
  • Learn about and how to use a spinner bait.
  • Fishing for bass and blue gil!
Week 3
  • Learn to identify Ohio fish and what bodies of water they are found in.
  • Learn about soft plastic baits and ways to use them effectively with different types of rigs.
  • Fishing for BIGGER blue gil and BIGGER bass!
Week 4
  • Learn the secret spots that fish like to hang out so you can target them and increase your catch ratio.
  • Fishing Competition!
  • Awards for longest blue gil and heaviest bass.
  • Graduation Ceremony.
